PUPIL PREMIUM GRANT

Pupil Premium is extra funding that the government gives to schools to help children who may face additional barriers to learning. The funding is intended to improve educational outcomes and ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Schools receive this funding for children who are eligible for free school meals (or have been eligible within the last six years), children who have been in care or previously in care, and some children from service families.

The money is paid directly to the school, not to parents. Schools decide how best to use the funding to meet pupils' needs. This might include additional teaching support, targeted interventions, help with educational resources, enrichment opportunities, or pastoral support.

If your child does not currently have Free School Meals, but you feel they may be eligible, then details of eligibility and how to apply for Free School Meals can be found here.

Even if you do not wish them to have the meals, the school could still claim Pupil Premium Funding, which could be used to help your child.
