Year 4 2025 - 2026
Class Teachers – Mrs Payne and Mrs Parkinson
Teaching Assistants - Mrs Morgan-Wynne, Mrs Maginess
Summer Term:
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Parkinson to our Year 4 team. She is an experienced teacher who will be teaching the class on Mondays and Tuesdays. Mrs Payne will teach the class from Wednesday to Friday.
We are looking forward to starting the summer term with our residential trip to PGL Boreatton Park from Wednesday 15th to Thursday 16th April. Please refer to the attached letter and kit list for full details. Pupils should arrive at school promptly at 8:00am on Wednesday.
This term we will be learning about the Victorians in History and Hemispheres and Tropics in Geography. Every Tuesday, we have Class Worship celebrations in which we explore God's Big Story and make reflections on our own journeys of faith. Please see the attached Long-Term Plan (in the files section), which details which areas we will be learning about in each subject.
PE: Cricket, Athletics and Rounders.
Lessons will be on Wednesday and Friday in the first half term (with Cheshire Cricket coaches on Wednesdays), then Monday and Friday after half term.
Homework:
Many of the children produced some excellent homework last term. They ought to be very proud of all their efforts.
In addition to homework tasks, children should be reading either by themselves or with an adult every night (or as often as possible). Please sign your child's planner on a weekly basis.
Children also have the statutory spelling lists in their planners. The national expectation is for children to be able to spell these words correctly by the end of Year 4. Sometimes, playing extra spelling games at home can really help spelling patterns and rules to sink in.
Our Class Favourite Reads book will continue to be circulated over the term. This invites individuals to create a book review of their favourite book that can be shared with their classmates. There were some brilliant suggestions of books last term. Thank you.
Times Tables Check:
As you know, all children in Year 4 are required to pass the MTC in the Summer Term. To help to prepare your child for this test, please encourage them to spend time at home on the TTRS site. It is such a useful website in building speed and confidence with times tables - especially those tricky ones, like 6s, 7s and 8s. Many children have achieved the 'Gone Green' status, meaning that they know all their times table facts and can recall them under 4 seconds. Now that's impressive!
We look forward to another jam-packed yet enjoyable half term ahead in Class 4.
As always, many thanks for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs R Payne and Mrs J Parkinson
