SUMMER TERM

 This term our topic is:

World War 2

We will be learning about the events of World War 2, with a focus on the Home Front.

On Wednesday 16th May,we are visiting Stockport Museum and the Air Raid Shelters underground, as used in the War.  Children will experience life as an Evacuee, will travel   "in role", dressing up in typical clothes of the time. They will experience what is was like to be evacuated and what life was like in an Air Raid Shelter.  We will also handle artifacts and learn about the concept of "Make Do and Mend".

A letter about this trip will be sent home shortly.

Where possible, we will link our topic with other areas of the curriculum such as

Art, DT, ICT, History, RE, Literacy and Science.

Numeracy topics this term include:

Measurement: Perimeter and Length, Area and Perimeter

Geometry: Angles, Shape and Symmetry and Position and Direction

Science:

Eating and the Digestive System

Living Things and their Habitats - Climate Change and Habitat Protection

RE:

Judaism and Church artifacts

 

PE:   Outdoor PE on Wednesdays and Fridays

                 Cricket until Whitsun, and then some Athletics, and finishing the term with Rounders. 

 

Music - Wednesday Wider Opportunities B flat group (PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR INSTRUMENTS!)

              

Homework - Reading, Spellings, Maths Facts and TT Rockstars.  Other homework given as required (usually on a Friday) and should be completed by the following Wednesday.

Spellings:  Spelling tests will take place periodically throughout the school year.
